Tap Ambassador

Sales and venue relationship role for restaurants, bars, cafés, and other hospitality venues in an assigned local market.

Engagement type
Independent contractor, commission-based
Location
Field-based within an assigned local market
Schedule
Flexible — Ambassadors set their own hours while remaining available for in-person venue outreach

About Tap

Tap helps hospitality venues create a simpler, more connected guest experience.

Using NFC-powered Tap Tags, guests can instantly access a venue’s menu, Google review page, promotions, social media, Wi-Fi information, and other important content by holding their phone near the tag—no QR code, camera, or app download required.

Venues also receive access to a dashboard where they can manage their guest experience and view engagement with their Tap Tags.

About the Role

Tap Ambassadors introduce Tap to restaurants, bars, cafés, breweries, and other hospitality venues within their local market.

This is more than a traditional sales role. Ambassadors remain connected to the venues they bring to Tap, serving as a consistent local point of contact before, during, and after the sale.

Tap Ambassadors operate as independent contractors and determine how and when they conduct outreach, manage prospects, and maintain venue relationships, subject to Tap’s brand standards and contractor agreement.

Ideal candidate

Outgoing, self-motivated, comfortable starting conversations, and interested in building lasting relationships within the local hospitality community.

Responsibilities

Sales and Prospecting

  • Identify local hospitality venues that could benefit from Tap.
  • Visit venues and speak with owners, managers, and decision-makers.
  • Demonstrate Tap and clearly explain its features and value.
  • Collect accurate contact information and maintain organized prospect records.
  • Follow up with interested venues by phone, text, email, or in person.
  • Guide qualified venues through the purchasing process.
  • Build and manage an independent pipeline of prospective venues.

Venue Relationships

  • Serve as an ongoing point of contact for the venues you bring to Tap.
  • Maintain relationships with owners, managers, and key staff after the sale.
  • Check in with venues and help them make full use of their Tap Tags and dashboard.
  • Communicate venue questions, concerns, and feedback to the Tap team.
  • Keep venue partners informed about relevant features and updates.
  • Identify opportunities for referrals, additional locations, plan upgrades, or additional Tap Tags.
  • Help venues feel like long-term Tap partners rather than one-time customers.

Local Brand Representation

  • Represent Tap professionally throughout your assigned market.
  • Build awareness and relationships within the local hospitality community.
  • Participate in venue visits, demonstrations, outreach campaigns, and local events when appropriate.
  • Share insights about venue needs, market trends, and potential opportunities.
  • Protect Tap’s brand and reputation in every interaction.

Success Measures

Ambassador success may be measured based on:

  • New paid venue sales.
  • Quality and consistency of prospect follow-up.
  • Venue check-ins, retention, and relationship strength.
  • Referrals and additional-location opportunities.
  • Accurate sales and relationship records.
  • Professional representation of Tap.
  • Feedback from venue partners.
  • Contribution to local market growth.

Success is measured not only by the number of venues signed, but also by the strength of the relationships built and the Ambassador’s ability to help those venues remain successful with Tap.

Compensation

This is an independent contractor opportunity compensated through a performance-based commission structure tied to eligible venue sales. It does not include a guaranteed salary or hourly wage.

Compensation may vary based on the venue’s selected plan, payment structure, account status, and applicable incentive programs. Ambassadors may also become eligible for bonuses, referral incentives, sales competitions, or market-specific rewards.

Complete details regarding commission eligibility, payment timing, lead ownership, cancellations, refunds, and performance requirements will be provided through the independent contractor agreement.

Ambassadors are responsible for their own tax obligations and are not eligible for employee benefits through Tap.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable approaching local businesses and speaking with decision-makers.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
  • Organized and consistent with prospects, follow-ups, and venue relationships.
  • Able to explain technology in a simple and approachable way.
  • Professional when communicating in person, by phone, through text, and by email.
  • Willing to learn about Tap, sales, and the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with the local hospitality community is helpful but not required.
  • Access to reliable transportation and the technology needed to communicate with prospects and venues may be required.

Previous sales experience is not required. Experience in sales, hospitality, customer service, marketing, account management, community outreach, or business development is highly valued, but Tap also welcomes motivated candidates who are ready to learn.

This opportunity may be especially well suited for undergraduate and graduate students studying business, marketing, entrepreneurship, hospitality, communications, or a related field. MBA students and recent graduates seeking hands-on experience in sales, relationship management, market development, and startup growth are strongly encouraged to apply.

Additional Opportunities

Ambassadors who consistently produce strong sales, maintain quality venue relationships, and demonstrate leadership may be considered for additional independent contractor opportunities, including:

  • Supporting newer Ambassadors.
  • Assisting with Ambassador orientation.
  • Participating in local outreach initiatives.
  • Helping launch Tap in new territories.
  • Working with larger venue groups.

Why Work With Tap?

The opportunity offers flexibility, direct earning potential, meaningful local relationships, and hands-on experience with a growing hospitality technology company. Ambassadors are not simply selling a product—they are helping shape how Tap enters new communities and supports the venues within them.
